Destination Marketing | Visit Oslo

As European Green Capital, Visit Oslo had a unique opportunity to present itself as the perfect destination for the environmentally conscious traveller. The main objective of this series was to increase interest for and awareness of Oslo as a city with sustainability at its core without moralising.

From garbage art installations and bikes built from recycled parts to saunas made entirely from driftwood and restaurants serving only rejected produce, Oslo is a city that knows how to salvage the waste it creates. That’s probably why it was elected 2019’s Green Capital of Europe.

Trashy Art

Nothing more than recycled junk, discover the bright and sustainable ideas that light up Oslo’s creative scene.

Rubbish Leisure

Built entirely from driftwood recovered from the fjord it proudly floats on, the Oslo sauna raft is open to all. Just remember to bring your towel!

Junk Bikes

The best way to experience Oslo? By bike, of course. Or better yet: a recycled one. See how a trip around Europe's Green Capital needn't cost the earth.

Rejects for dinner

From garbage to gourmet: Restaurants like Oslo’s Rest use surplus food and unsaleable produce to create a fine dining experience like no other. Make sure to book ahead though, the restaurant is very popular and for good reason.
